Holiday travelers should expect even bigger crowds than last year at Sacramento International Airport for the week of Thanksgiving, according to airport officials.
Air travel at the airport is up 5 percent for 2016, and officials said that trend should continue through the holiday period.
The airport estimates an additional 40,000 people will take to the skies in November, compared to the same period last year.
The airport expects to see the bulk of Thanksgiving travelers between Friday, Nov. 18 to Nov. 27.
Passengers should arrive at the airport two hours ahead of their flight to allow time to park, check-in and get through security, according to airport officials.
If you are parking a car, there are three lots to choose from.
The economy lot costs $10 per day and is expected to be the busiest lot, filling up by the middle of the week.
The daily lots are slightly more expensive at $12 per day. Passengers can walk from these lots to the terminal. Shuttle buses are available.
The covered parking garages are the most expensive option at $17 per day, but airport officials said they are also the most convenient option with pedestrian bridges connected to the terminals.
Passengers are urged to check flight and airport status before leaving.
