Aircraft products manufacturer East/West Industries has moved to a new larger facility in Long Island, New York, wher it was founded in 1968. Although the move occurred in February, the event was commemorated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday.

The manufacturer designs and makes seats and life-saving products for both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, mainly for the military. The certified women-owned business' move was made in response to growing demand for its products and planned expansion of its workforce. According to a company press release, East/West plans to expand its 75-person team by 40% over three years.
One of the company's workforce-expansion efforts has been to hire and train U.S. military veterans by reaching out to veteran’s groups and the Long Island’s U.S. Air National Guard.
The new facility includes production lines for each seat program, a 3-D printing lab and high-speed machining. Purchasing the 3-D printer in March 2016 has allowed the company to quickly and efficiently produce designs.
Original equipment manufacturers that install East/West products on their aircraft include Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Sikorsky. Its passenger seats can be found on the newly FAA-certificated Bell 505 Jet Ranger X.
