BLR Aerospace will unveil its newest FastFin System at the 2016 Helicopter Assn. of Canada (HAC) Annual Convention and Trade Show in Edmonton, the company said. From Nov. 11 to 13, the system will be displayed on an Airbus Helicopters H125. FastFin is an anti-torque enhancer, using advanced airflow management to increase effectiveness.

The Airbus H125 FastFin looks different than its Bell Helicopter FastFin system. While the Bell version has a vertical-fin modification, the Airbus H125 system is composed of an Advanced Tailboom Aerodynamic Cowling (ATAC), and tailboom strake and vortex generators. It is currenly waiting for FAA approval.

FastFin has increased available right pedal by as much as 10%. Useful load could increase by up to 130 pounds in OGE hover in most conditions and 85 pounds in hot and high operations. Pilot workload is also reduced with FastFin, with easier control in precision hover-hold operations and better management of the yaw axis when hovering in challenging crosswinds.
