The Carolina Beach Town Council passed a unanimous vote to prohibit the take-off and landing of helicopters in the town. The public commentary lasted two and a half hours, with a large attendance. WECT reports that many people had to stand in the hall, due to the large turnout.
Many voiced their concerns over issues such as noise pollution, that the tours would hurt property values and would be dangerous to local wildlife. There was also a crowd who encouraged the helicopter tours of Carolina Beach, saying that the business would help attract more tourism to the town.
