AC311A, a light civilian helicopter jointly developed by AVIC Helicopter Co. and Changhe Aircraft Industry Group, completed a series of low-temperature ground tests and flights in Mohe County, the coldest and the northernmost part of China.

The flight testing campaign, from Feb. 9 to Feb. 27, was conducted under high-altitude and extremely low-temperature conditions, verifying the operation characteristics and flight performance of the aircraft under low-temperature conditions.

Developed on the basis of AC311 helicopter, nicknamed "Air Wizard", AC311A is a 2-ton single engine light utility helicopter, which can accommodate 6 persons. The helicopter improved its maximum takeoff weight to 2,250kg, as well as high-altitude performance and over-all properties. It was designed for a variety of uses, including business flight, transportation, aerial photography, search and rescue, fire-fighting and others.
