Tourism officials in the northern India state have long sought search service to boost tourism to Agra and Fatehpur Sikri, the City of Victory to the west that is a U.N. to boost tourism in the Taj city, according to the newspaper.

Agra is about 95 nm southeast of the national capital, and Fatehpur Sikri is about 20 nm to the west of Agra. The Times reported that tourist visits to Fatehpur Sikri are declining “because of the considerable time” to travel there from Agra.

The paper quoted Pawan Hans’ head of information services and corporate communications, Ram Krishan, as saying that while the talks with the Uttar Pradesh are in the preliminary stages, the operator would like to offer a morning flight from New Delhi to Agra with a return in the evening. Flights would be offered from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri throughout the day, as well as service to the holy cities of Mathura and Vrindavan, The Times quoted him as saying.

Pawan Hans is owned by the national government of India through a 51% direct stake and a 49% one held by the state-controlled Oil and Natural Gas Corp. The government has said it plans to sell off its 51% stake.
