Last week Swedish Prince Carl Philip visited the Swedish Armed Forces Helicopter Wing’s air base in Malmen, link-ping, for a pilot orientation course. The Helicopter Wing states that the instructors were very impressed by the Prince’s piloting skills.

At the visit, the Prince was briefed about the unit and how the pilot training is conducted. The morning was spent at the Air School, which included theory training and practical flight training in the HKP 15 (AW109 LUH) near Lake Boren. The afternoon was spent at the 2:nd Helicopter Squadron, which operates the HKP 16 (UH-60M Black Hawk). The Prince joined the unit on a low-level tactic flight and also got the opportunity to try the controls of a Black Hawk. Parts of the flight was conducted over the motor racing circuit Mantorp Park, which is a well-known place for the car-race loving Prince Carl Philip. Adding to his royal title, Prince Carl Philip is a major in the Swedish Amphibious Battalion.
