A new Life Flight Network helicopter base is set to make its home in Bozeman, Montana, Life Flight Network said. The base is planned to open by Sept. 1 at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.

“Whether a person has suffered a heart attack, stroke, or serious traumatic injury, every minute counts in the fight to save their life,” said Justin Dillingham, Life Flight Network’s chief customer office. “Opening a base in Bozeman means patients nearby can be flown to higher levels of care in significantly less time. As an in-network provider for both Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana and PacificSource, we are a resource for hospitals and emergency responders to consider when there is a need for the life-saving services we provide.”

The new base would host a Leonardo AW119Kx Koala, and create about 15 jobs, employing two mechanics. Life Flight Network would be able to provide intensive care unit-level service, with flight nurses, paramedics or respiratory therapists accessible to southern Montana and northern Wyoming. Life Flight Network said it currently serves Montana from bases in Butte and Missoula, and in Idaho. Its helicopters can serve locations more than 150 miles from their bases.
