China's civil aviation authorities has penalized Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Company after one of its helicopters landed on a local bridge to pick up a bride causing traffic congestion.

The CAAC East China Regional Administration thought the general aviation company "ignored safety risks and jeopardized the public." Meanwhile, through investigation, the authority found that the company had safety issues it needs to address, according to its official website.

The incident occurred on July 24 when the helicopter landed on Liuzaogang Bridge on Nanyuan Road in Pudong New Area of Shanghai to pick up the bride and take her to the ceremony.

Security guards used red ropes to cordon off an area for the helicopter to land and take off safely, causing traffic congestion for almost an hour.

As punishment, the regional regulator has limited the operations of Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Co, grounding some of its aircraft for an unspecified period of time.

The pilot however claims that he had prior permission to land the chopper on the street.

The civil aviation authority said that whether this flight is legal or not will be under further investigation. The general aviation company could be fined or face other administrative punishment. http://www.ttfly.com/news/
